Birthdays are special, so a birthday beer should be special too. We just turned 3, and that prompted us to combine our fellow downtown Kingston breweries - Daft, Fine Balance, KBC, & Riverhead - with two of our favourite malt and hop farms: Mississippi Mills Malt and Wolfe Island Hopyard. The result? A light, refreshing, and delicious all-Ontario Hefeweizen. Thanks to you and them for welcoming us to Kingston three years ago. We hope this wheat beer hits right, unlike a certain incident with a certain local bridge...
What You’ll Love About It
We wanted to go super low on ABV here, coming in at a super light 3%. But we also wanted to maintain what we all love about a classic hefe, with those notes of banana, bubble gum, and clove. Feels like we made a direct hit!
How It's Made
We used Wheat, Munich, and Pilsner malts from Mississippi Mills - located about an hour away from our Kingston brewery - with Columbia hops from Wolfe Island Hopyard, found just a quick ferry ride away from us.
Why Is It Called Broken Bridge?
Because we're shallow and love an easy joke, that's why. Also, look up the LaSalle Causeway bridge in Kingston if you aren't familiar with the story.
How To Enjoy It
The way we made it - with good friends.
Did You Know?
This is the first time this many YGK brewers got into one brewhouse! We were ecstatic to host them, and make a truly all-Kingston beer!
